Panoui! support
Panoui! is a free guide to street parking in Montréal. On this page: how to reach us, how to delete your account, how to turn location and notifications on or off, what the colours on the map mean, and where the app works.
Contact us
- Something on the map is wrong. Tell us from inside the app, so the exact spot comes with your message. Tap the curb, then tap Report on its card. Or tap the amber report button at the bottom right of the map. Pick a type (Wrong info, Sign photo, App bug, Other), write what you saw, add a photo if it helps, and tap Send report. The app shows you a ticket number.
- Anything else. Write to [email protected].
- Your personal data. For a copy of your data, a correction, or any privacy question, write to [email protected].
Delete your account
You can delete your account and its data from inside the app.
- Open Panoui! and tap Profile in the bar at the bottom.
- Tap Account. If you see Sign in instead, you are not signed in on this phone. Sign in first.
- On the My account sheet, tap Delete my account and data.
- The button changes to Tap again to e-mail a deletion link. Tap it again.
- The button now reads Check your e-mail to finish deleting. Open the message "Confirm deleting your Panoui! account" in the inbox of your account and tap the link in it. The link works for one hour.
Your account is erased when you open that link, not before. If the link has expired, start again from step 1.
What is deleted: your account, your sign-in sessions and your synced profile, including vehicles and plates, permits, saved spots, recent searches, parking history and settings, along with your points, your registered devices and your parking timers. Reports you sent are kept without your e-mail or identity, so the corrections they led to stay on the map.
If you cannot get into the app, write to [email protected] and ask us to delete your account.
Location
Panoui! uses your location to centre the map, show the rules for the curb you are on, and show where you can park near you. It uses location only while the app is open. With location off, you can still move the map by hand and search for an address.
On iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap Privacy & Security, then Location Services.
- Tap Panoui! in the list.
- Choose While Using the App to turn location on, or Never to turn it off. Ask Next Time Or When I Share makes the phone ask each time.
- On the same screen, Precise Location lets you share an approximate position instead of an exact one.
Sharing your position with other drivers
This is separate from the phone's permission, and it is off until you turn it on. In the app, tap Profile, then Community:
- Share my live position turns sharing on or off. Sharing is mutual: you see other drivers on the map only while you share too.
- Show me to others hides your car from other drivers' maps while you keep sharing.
- Show nearby drivers on map hides or shows other drivers on your own map.
Other drivers see an anonymous car, with no name, at a position rounded to about 100 m.
Notifications
Panoui! uses notifications for your parking timer: a heads-up before your time runs out, and an alert when it is up.
In the app
Tap Profile, then Alerts & voice, then Notifications. In the same list, Remind me before it ends sets how early the heads-up arrives.
On iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap Notifications, then Panoui!.
- Turn Allow Notifications on or off.
If notifications are off in the phone's settings, the app tells you so in Alerts & voice and offers to open the settings for you.
What the colours on the map mean
Each curb is coloured by the rule in force right now, so a curb can change colour during the day.
| Colour | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Green | Parking allowed according to the rules we know of. No known restriction right now. |
| Red | No parking right now. This includes permit-only zones when you have not added that permit to the app. |
| Blue | Paid parking. Tap the curb for the price and the hours. |
| Yellow | Permit zone. Check the code on the sign against your own permit. |
| Grey | Unknown or unclear. Read the sign. |
Tap any curb to see the rule in plain words and when it changes. You can show or hide each colour from the layers button on the map (Map layers).
The posted sign always wins. Read it before you leave your car.
Where Panoui! works
Panoui! has parking data for Montréal only. If you move the map outside the city, it shows Outside the coverage area and no coloured curbs. Move the map back over Montréal to see them again.
The parking information comes from the City of Montréal's open data and from what drivers report in the app. We update it regularly, usually every day. Panoui! is an independent project. It is not run by, or affiliated with, the City of Montréal.
Questions people ask
Is Panoui! free?
Yes. The app is free and has no ads.
Do I need an account?
No. The map, the curb rules and search work without one. An account keeps your vehicles, permits, saved spots and parking history, and is needed to scan signs and to share your position with other drivers. You sign in with your e-mail address.
Can Panoui! guarantee I will not get a ticket?
No. Panoui! is a guide. Its information can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and the posted sign always wins. Read the sign on site before you leave your car.
A curb colour looks wrong. What should I do?
Follow the sign on the street, then tell us: tap the curb, tap Report, and send a short note, with a photo of the sign if you can. Reports are how the map gets corrected for everyone.
Who can see where I am?
Other drivers do not see your position unless you turn on Share my live position. If you do, they see an anonymous car with no name, at a position rounded to about 100 m. Live positions are not kept as a history: each one is deleted about ten minutes after your last update. The privacy policy at panoui.com/privacy lists everything the app stores.
What happens to the photo when I scan a sign?
The photo, with the spot you picked on the map, is sent to Google's AI service, which reads the sign. We do not keep the image. Google may use the photos it receives to improve its own services. Photograph the sign only, and keep people, licence plates and windows out of the frame. The reading is made by AI, so always check it against the posted sign.
